A group of four to eight peers who join together for a one-year commitment to grow in these Four Pursuits:
- Follow Christ and walk with Him with all our hearts
- Honor Christ in our workplaces, jobs, or professions
- Live the Mission – discipling among those without Christ, especially our peers
- Team with others as Christ-followers of like heart and purpose
A CityLife Team is sometimes formed by a group of friends moving together to a city. Other times, a team is launched by like-minded friends who meet in a Navigators 20s network. Each team is provided studies and resources, as well as a mentor to help them succeed in their pursuits.
FAQs
Who can be a part of a CityLife Team?
CityLife Teams are for laborers and “aspiring laborers” . . . people who have a heart for God, a desire to grow spiritually, and a commitment to the Four Pursuits. Some teams will be comprised of men, some of women, while others will have both as team members.
Is there a CityLife Team curriculum?
Yes. The curriculum primarily focuses on equipping the CityLife Team in the Four Pursuits: Christ, Work, Mission, and Community. The beauty of the curriculum is that it is customizable in the Resources section. A CityLife Team is highly encouraged to read all four Right Where You Are booklets, and choose one additional resource in each of the Four Pursuits.
Do I raise money to be part of a CityLife Team?
No. CityLife Team members are employed or seeking employment in their city.
How is a CityLife Team different from a church group?
Launching a CityLife Team is ultimately a decision to live a certain way, where you live, work, and play. It is not simply a small group Bible study. Neither is it a long-term commitment to a multi-generational community. A CityLife Team does not recruit to itself or add members. It is a missional group of friends who are focused on laboring. The Nav20s celebrate involvement in a local church and believe there is room for both.
Who will lead my CityLife Team?
A CityLife Team is led by one or more team members. Most often, the person who forms the CityLife Team becomes the team leader. Sometimes leadership is shared. Each team can decide upon an approach with help from its mentor.
What is a CityLife Team mentor?
Each CityLife Team will have a Navigator mentor whose role is to help the team start well and live out the Four Pursuits. Mentors are Navigator staff or partners who share in the CityLife Team vision. They will coach the team leaders to address problems or issues as they arise and will be available for one-to-one mentoring of team members as desired.
How long is a CityLife Team commitment?
Members of a CityLife Team commit to team together for one year, with an option to continue for a second year.
